Incapacity: Chaos complete

Right, so after a little hiatus due to being fucked in the ass by technology, I am back, and what better way to mark this return than reviewing the second of the two albums that got me into death metal? Yeah, I can’t think of anything either…
Anyway, the album to which we shall now divert our attention is Incapacity’s “Chaos Complete”, which was easily the most brutal thing I had ever heard back in those days (receiving not-so-stiff competition from the likes of AC/DC, Black Sabbath and Metallica). Wow, I just realized that I was a very cliché metal head in the days of yore.
Umm…“Chaos Complete”, right, so what have we got here? Groovy, mid-pace death metal is what, people. Obviously, this release will always hold great sentimental value for me. Still, if where to give it a supposedly unbiased evaluation, I must say that “Chaos Complete” is a pretty fucking decent album. The guys in the band all have a solid background in metal (which I didn’t know when I first heard it, duh), and it’s obvious that they know their shit. Of course, as we all know, this fact alone doesn’t guarantee a great album. And “Chaos Complete” is not great, just good.
The fact that “Chaos Complete” is about as unoriginal as riding a bicycle makes it pretty hard to review in an interesting way (noticed that, have you?). I mean, how many times can you say the words “heavy, groovy, brutal yet melodic” without sounding like an idiot poser without any real knowledge of metal? Umm… what was I saying… uh… man, what the fuck, you know what to expect; this is old school death with a lot of groove and melody, a decent growler and good production. That’s ordinary enough for ya?
Highlights of the album are the songs “Amputate God” (because it was the first one I heard), “Demon King” (because it has an awesome chorus). Now that I think of it, every track on this album has a more or less awesome chorus, with nice hooks that you can growl along to. If you’re into that, check this bitch out. Other highlights include “Paradise Crushed” and “Fervent Hate”.
“Chaos Complete” is a solid death metal album that has absolutely nothing about it that stands out. Other than it being a solid death metal album of course…
7 nostalgic cloudings of judgment out of 10. Seriously though, this is good, it’s not just me being sentimental…
